Gift Guide

Hello everyone.

Sorry I haven't written for a couple of days- its been a bonkers weekend!  I finally have the time whilst watching the movie "Julie and Julia" (also about a blogger- you must see).

So officially after tonight the gift giving season is over but this doesn't mean that there will be no more gift giving opportunities throughout the year and in my opinion now is the time to stock up on gifts so you never have one of those "I forgot to buy her a present!" panic moments.  So here are my 4 favourite gift ideas from Avon Brochure 3.

Lipsy Bow Purse £10

Kaitlin Heart Scarf £4.99

Mosaic Effects Top Coat In Blue Flash £6

Skin So Soft Skindisiac Silky Body Lotion £2.25 & Body Oil Spray £2.49
So there we go- my picks to stock up on for present giving throughout the year.  At these prices they are ideal and will prevent panic at a later date.

I hope you all are having a great evening.

All Round Party Hair

Hello Everyone

I had a fab day- went to visit my new baby twin cousins and they are sooooooo cute!!

Today's post I'm going to show you my all round party hair look- it looks good from the front, back and sides.

First off here is the kit I used:

Items L- R:
Naturals Daily Refreshing Shampoo in Cherry Blossom from Avon
Naturals Volumising Conditioner in Raspberry and Hibiscus from Avon
Round barrel brush
Tigi Bed Head Totally Baked Volumising & Prepping Hair Meringue
Catwalk by Tigi Session Series Salt Spray
2 Black Hairbands
Comb

And this is how I did it...

Firstly I washed and conditioned my hair.  I mentioned in an earlier post that I normally used the Advance Techniques Colour Protection shampoo and conditioner but I love to try new things so I can review them.  That's why this time I thought I would try out this Naturals shampoo and conditioner and I was very impressed.  They smell amazing and left my hair feeling healthy and soft.  They are a bargain too- in Brochure 3 the shampoo is available in a 700ml bottle for just £1.99.  If you get through as much shampoo as I do you'll know this is a real money saver!

Next i ran the Tigi Hair Meringue (which is basically a mousse) through the mid lengths and ends of my hair to give it some body and then blow dried with a large round barrel brush (that I have had for years).  I left my fringe flat and super shiny.

Once it was dry I sprayed the back of my hair with a texturising spray (I used a salt spray) before pulling it in to a ponytail then twisting it round in to a bun, securing it with two black hairbands (or whatever looks best in your hair).  I buy hairbands in Primark, £1 for 30.

Then I  just rough it up a bit using a comb to backcomb and tease the hair around the bun.  My comb is again from Primark.  £1 for a set of 2.

Then voila....

An all round party hair-do!!

I love doing this for parties because its easy, quick and won't detract from smouldering make-up or beautiful earrings (the ones in the picture were £1 in Topshops sale).  It also stays put all evening which means I don't have to keep fussing with it!

I hope you have enjoyed today's blog.  Thanks for checking it out.

Get The Look: Party Make Up

Hello Make- Up Lovers- this post is especially for you!

So firstly here are all the products I used:

From L- R:
Boi-ing Concealer from Benefit Cosmetics
Concealer Brush from Dirty Works
Glimmerstick Diamonds Eyeliner in Golden Diamond from Avon
Glimmerstick Eyeliner In Blackest Black from Avon
Supershock Mascara in Black from Avon
Miss Popularity highlighter from Benefit Cosmetics
Blusher Brush from Benefit
Sugarbomb Blusher from Benefit Cosmetics
ColourTrend Flavoured Lip Balm in Candy Apple from Avon

For me this is the ideal party look but I wore it during the daytime as I love a strong eye and neutral lip in Winter.

So here is what I did....

Firstly I used the Blackest Black Glimmerstick along the upper lash.  This is a real make-up marvel which millions of women can't live without.  In brochure 3 its £6.  Believe me- once you've used Glimmersticks you will fall in love with them.

Next I used a concealer brush to apply Boi- ing Concealer in 02.  £16.50 from Benefit Cosmetics.

Apply the Golden Diamond Glimmerstick along the lower lash line.  These glimmersticks are like twist up pencils that never need sharpening.  This shade is £3 in brochure 3 and when you spend £10 or more on selected makeup you can order a free Valentines make-up gift set.

Then I applied Supershock Mascara in Black to my lashes.  This mascara really amps up the flutter factor and gives great volume.  Its just £4 in brochure 3.

Now for the face.  I swept the Miss Popularity highlighter (now discontinued) on my cheekbones and the bridge of the nose using a blusher brush before popping my cheeks with pink using Sugarbomb from Benefit Cosmetics £23.50.

The final touch- a slick of ColorTrend Flavoured Lip Balm in Candy Apple (now discontinued).

And the look is done.  Heres how it looks:

I hope you enjoy this look and have fun recreating it.  I'll be rocking this at winter parties this year.

I hope you are all enjoying the Winter Sales.  I am making it my mission to buy the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans wether they are in the sales or not.  I have loads of skinny jeans in all different colours and washes but no boyfriend jeans so I really want... no need!... a pair.  I'll keep you posted on the progress of my mission as it unfolds....

Speak soon me dears.

Embroidered Vintage Shirt

Hello everyone

I hope you are well.  Just a quick post to show you my outfit today whilst I was doing Avon deliveries.

Long Sleeve Black Top from Matalan
Blue Skinny Jeans from Matalan

Embroidered White Shirt from Clobber (Vintage shop in Boscombe)

Peacock Feather Earrings from Accessorize

I was loving today's outfit because its exactly what I like to do- mix high street and vintage together.  The shirt was a purchase from Clobber which is an awesome vintage shop in the Boscombe area.  These jeans are also some of my favourites because of the vibrant blue colour.

Have a great evening all my lovelies.  I'm going to get in my PJ's now and watch Star Trek: The Original Series.  Oh William Shatner.....

A Few of My Favourite Things in December

Hello everybody

I thought I would take some inspiration from The Sound of Music and show you a few of my favourite things... but don't panic there are no videos of me singing just some pics and a bit of an explanation of some of the things I've been loving during this December.

Perfect Kiss Lipstick in Red Embrace

This lipstick is just a gorgeous colour and I love the mirrored packaging too.  It comes out in Avon brochure 3 along with 23 more kissable new shades and is a snip at just £5 each.  Plus if you spend £10 or more across selected makeup in the brochure you can get a free Valentines Day Gift set.

Hello Kitty kids Overnight bag.

So I know that this is technically a kids overnight bag but I thinks its so cute and I use it as a handbag.  I got it from Avon a few campaigns ago for £9.99.  For me its the perfect combination of bag and Hello Kitty!

Lantern and Heart Fairy Lights

I really wanted something unusual to light my room on cold winter nights and during a trip to Ikea I found these pretty heart lights on a string almost straight away.  It was then a hunt the rest of the evening to find something to display them in.  And the lantern was the last thing I found!  These lights are battery operated so you can put them anywhere and the lantern is really designed for candles but I wanted to do something a bit different.

Skin So Soft Skindisiac Silky Lotion

This is the latest addition to the iconic Avon Skin So Soft range and will be released in brochure 3 at just £2.25.  The lotion has sensual passionfruit oil and smells amazing.  My skin gets so dry during the winter with the central heating and layers of clothes so a good body lotion is essential for me.

Antique Brooch
I brought this beautiful brooch at an antiques fair in Wells when I was there on holiday with my family.  I love finding unusual pieces at antique fairs and markets and I have never seen anything like it since.  I usually use this brooch to fasten my cape but its also looks fab on a coat lapel.

My Mums homemade gluten free cakes

About two years ago I was diagnosed with an auto immune disease called Coeliac Disease which means my body gets confused and ill when I eat gluten which is in wheat.  This means that when everyone else is tucking in to cake and coffee at Starbucks I can only watch in envy.  So my Mum took on the challenge and set about finding the perfect gluten free cake recipes... and she has succedeed.  This two are gluten free lemon drizzle cakes and thenks to her I never miss out again.  Hugs to you Mum xx

So those are my favourite December things.  Have a great weekend.

Va Va Vroom Friday

Hello Everyone!

Another beautiful day.  I am loving all this sunshine!! So here is my outfit for a morning with my Mum.

Coat from F&F at Tesco
Scarf from Forever 21 in Austria
Boots from Matalan
Skirt from F&F at Tesco
Black Leggings from Dorothy Perkins

The cutest Hello Kitty earrings in the world from Claire' s Accessories

A lot of people ask me about how I keep the colour of my hair so vibrant and I put it down to the Advance Techniques Colour Protection shampoo and conditioner from Avon.  It definitely makes a difference to how long my hair colour stays fresh.  I normally use the Avon hair colour too but this colour I had done in Egypt whilst I was on holiday there a couple of weeks ago.

Thats all today, so check in again soon my lovelies.

Jen xx

P.s Just a quick note on why its Va Va Vroom Friday.  I lost my car keys today whilst having a walk along Boscombe promenade :(.  So if you find some keys down there just let me know :).

An Outfit for Tuesday

Earrings from Avon (how cute are they!?) £2.99 in Brochure 2
Hello all

Coat from H&M (but pilfered from my Mum)
It is a beautifully sunny day but still a bit of a nip in the air.  Here's what I've been wearing whilst doing my Avon deliveries this morning.

Dress from H&M (but picked up at a clothes swap party)
Long sleeved black top from Matalan
Jeggings from Topshop
Boots from Primark

So I know that you cannot see what perfume I am wearing but i've included it on my blog anyway.

Its from Avon and is called Little Red Dress.  This is the purse spray version (perfect size for on the go).  The perfumed body spray of this is just £1.75 or the 50ml EDT is £9 both in brochure 2.  It has an oriental fruity smell and I think its lush!!

Thanks for stopping in and have a great rest of day.

My Very First Post!

So this is my very first post!  I have been thinking of having a blog for such a long time and I have finally sat down and created it.

So first to introduce myself-  My name is Jenny and I am Independent Avon Sales Leader and Representative.  I am also a self confessed fashion and beauty addict!  This blog is a way for me to chatter on about  my favourite products, review new Avon products and also chat about fashion, style and beauty, plus anything else that may take my whimsy (I am hoping to review a few local businesses too).

I picked the name Glitter and Lipstick as they are by far two of my favourite things when it comes to beauty.

So from tomorrow there will be proper blogs- I am going to do a few days of showing you my outfits of that day so I can find my feet with blogging.  This week I am really going for dresses, jewel tone colours and embellishing with gold.

So until tomorrow all my dears...
