Street Style Tuesday: Street Smart

Hello everyone

I'm so sorry that I have been absent for a few days.  I have come down with a cold which is not surprising considering that the whole of Bournemouth seems to have a cold!

Yesterday I was feeling a bit better so I ventured to the town centre with my friend Lisa to have a little look round the shops and pick up some bits and pieces and I wanted to show you my outfit.

I think you'll agree that the main focus of this look is The Coat.  I picked it up in a charity shop last month for £12.99 and I am in love with it.

A big thank you to Lisa for taking these photos and taking me out even though I sneezed like a gazillion times in her car.

Speak soon all my lovelies.

Random Saturday: Tanning At Home With St Tropez

Hello everyone

I have a review for you today:  St Tropez Everyday Body Moisturiser Gradual Tan in Medium Dark.

My friend Helen gave this to me after she got it as a free gift on a magazine (I forget which one).  As the weather has started to warm up (or at least it did- its freezing again now) I decided to give it a go.

It had quite a runny consistency which I wasn't so keen on but I did find it to be very moisturising.  I had to wait a couple of minutes to get dressed after applying but bit does tell you to do that on the back of the tube (I just get very impatient).

It did not smell like fake tan too much which was nice and I did notice that it did give me a slight colour after a couple of days use.  you have the same pitfalls as other fake tanners (I had a superb orange stain on the top of my foot where I hadn't rubbed it in properly) but the more I used it the better I got at applying.

All in all I was very impressed with this product.  The price is also not too bad at £12.15 for the full size 200ml tube and the whole St Tropez range is available here at FeelUnique.com.  as I am quite pale I would probably go for the next shade down if I was to buy it myself.

Happy tanning folks!

Wednesday Wrap Up: Wrap Up A New Look

Hello everyone

I've been thinking a lot recently about how easy it is to wrap up a new look just by changing your make- up and hair.  Over the last 3 days I have tried 3 different looks and taken pictures to show you how different you can make yourself look.

Look 1

Originally on this day I wanted a very sweet and innocent look to start with so I kept my eyes and brows simple but I realised when I got to the lips that it was just looking a bit plain so I whipped out the red lippy to add a bit of spice.  I think this look has quite a youthful tone to it.

I finished it off by keeping my hair fairly straight with a little tousling at the bottom using serum.  I kept my parting straight to make my face look more symmetrical and I thought it looked a bit more pure to balance out the vampy red lips.

Look 2

I wanted a completely different look next something where the eyes had more va va voom.  As I really wanted to make the eyes the focus I lined them with black eyeliner to make them more catlike.  A clear gloss on the lips finished my make- up.

I put my hair up in a simple ponytail so that I could again make my eyes the focus.  To add a bit of interest I crimped a few pieces of hair and I gave myself a side parting.

I think this is a more mature, older look.

Look 3

This look is more intelligent and serious.  I made the eyes quite dark using a very dark grey, nearly black eyeshadow, black eyeliner and lashings of black mascara.  Again I used clear gloss on the lips.

I kept the hair classic and sophisticated by blow drying it smooth then tucking it behind my ears.

I changed my look 3 times in 3 days just by changing my hair and make- up and i'm sure you will agree I look different in each photo.  So when you fancy a new look don't chop off all your hair just yet- experiment with some new make- up and hair products.  Let me know which look you think is best for me and how you've been experimenting with new looks by commenting below.

Have fun and check back in soon for a new post.

Beauty Tuesday: Eye Candy

Hello everyone

It can be so tempting when you are doing your make-up to reach for the same coloured eyeliner that you've been wearing for the last 10 years.  With S/S 2013 fast approaching its time to shake up your make- up bag as well as your wardrobe.  The Avon Glimmerstick eyeliners are an easy way to update your look without breaking the bank.

These Glimmersticks have become so popular that Avon reports that over 8 are sold every minute!  They have quite a soft consistency and are super easy to apply.

I am currently in posession of only 3 Glimmersticks but the longer I'm an Avon rep the more I feel the need to order more!

From top to bottom they are:

Glimmerstick Chromes in Ultra Violet
Glimmerstick Diamonds in Golden Diamond
Glimmerstick in Blackest Black

The Glimmerstick Diamonds range is available in Brochure 6 for £6 each (these are a more sparkly liner).  Glimmerstick Eyeliners are available in Brochure 6 for just £2.49 (these colours are more matte).

I don't currently know what has happened to the Glimmerstick Chromes range as they have not been in Brochures 4, 5 or 6.  Hopefully Avon will bring them back soon as the range was a beautiful metallic spectrum of colours.

If you need some inspiration for S/S '13 make-up, here are some pics of how I've been using my Glimmersticks as the seasons have changed.

Blackest Black teamed with a pop of playful aqua for a youthful and fresh look.

Golden Diamond teamed with a matt pale coral lip for a more sporty look.

Ultra Violet used in my favourite look that says confidence, creativity but is still very much who I am.  Loving the pretty flushed cheeks!

Blackest Black again but this time with a plump pout!

Contact your local Avon rep to order your Glimmersticks now or if you live in the Bournemouth area send me an e-mail at widdicombejennifer@gmail.com with your details and i'll be in touch.

Thanks for reading.

Happy Monday: Happy Hair

Hello everyone

I've got a review for you today my lovelies.

This is the Avon Naturals Cherry Blossom Daily Refreshing Shampoo for all hair types.

First off- it smells really lovely (not unlike everything in the Naturals range!).  I am very fortunate in that I only need to wash my hair every other day but, as suggested by the name, this shampoo is ideal for everyday use.  The light fragrance left my hair feeling refreshed and clean.

This shampoo is just £2 in Brochure 6 or you can Mix 'n' Match it with other products in the Naturals range at 4 for £5.  There are other items in the Cherry Blossom range- a Daily Refreshing Hair Mask and a Daily Hair Refresher.

Contact your local Avon rep to order this fab shampoo or if you live in the Bournemouth area you can order with me- just send me an e-mail at widdicombejennifer@gmail.com with your details and I'll be in touch.

Speak soon

Random Saturday: Little Details

Hi everyone

When you are a bit short on the reddies but still want to look fashionable and good it can be tricky to find a low cost item that doesn't look cheap.  When I am shopping I look for the little details on a garment because this in my mind makes it look more expensive and adds interest. This was very true of my sausage dog shirt from Matalan.

#

I picked up this shirt last year in the Matalan sale and although I can't remember exactly how much it was it was definitely under £15.  For me the little details are what make this look more expensive- the sausage dog print, the loose collar, the button detailing on the sleeve and the rounded longer hemline at the back.

I like to think that you don't need a lot of money to look good- you just have to be clever about what you buy.

Thanks for reading today's post- I hope you've found it helpful in your bargain hunting.

Beauty Tuesday: January 2013 Beauty Favourites

Hello everyone.

I know this is late again- one day I will start to remember to do these in the first week of the new month not 12 days in to it.

Before I start I want to remind you guys to follow me on Blogger, Twitter and Instagram @glitterandlipstick and like my Facebook page.  Thank you so much for checking out my Blog.

First, completely off the topic of favourite beauty products, I wanted to show you my pretty pillows on my bed.  I suppose they are a favourite as I love them.

Random I know but look how pretty they all are!

Now on to my favourites in January.  There is quite a few so sorry about that.  Obviously I really needed lots of products last month!

Avon Naturals Strawberry & Guava Hand and Body Lotion

The great thing about this lotion is the consistency.  It is a bit on the runny side but I like that as it means that you only need a little bit to moisturise your whole body.  I moisturise every day otherwise my skin feels all dry and horrid.  Also I love the smell.  Its fruity without being overpowering.  I have some on my hands at the moment and I keep sniffing the back of my hands... like a weirdo...  My best body tip would be to moisturise your body daily.

The price is right too with it being just £1.50 in Brochure 5.

Bed Head Tigi Glaze Haze Semi- Sweet Smoothing Hair Serum

I don't know what's in this hair serum but I love it.  Now I have longer hair and I'm having a bit of a moment with smooth, shiny locks I've been using this quite a bit.  And it smells like sweets... mmmm.... sweets....

Superdrug Dry Shampoos

I am pretty sure these were an addition to Superdrugs range in January as I had never seen them before.  I had never tried any of the Superdrug basics range so I was quite interested to try these out.  Dry shampoo is always on my shelf as I find it adds volume and freshens up any hairdo.

Vidal Sassoon Crimpers

These are super, super old- my sister brought them for me when I was about 18 but they still work so until they blow up I'll keep using them.  I go through phases of crimping my hair and was super excited when I saw in the February Company magazine that crimping was going to be in again.  I'm pretty sure you can get crimpers from Boots (or at least you could last time I looked).

Avon Colortrend Lip Stix in Think Fast Pink

Who doesn't love a bright pink lip!  I am wearing this one in my picture and as you can see its quite full on but that's my loving.  It makes me feel perked up and pink and it stays on really well. It has a creamy formulation and goes on quite thick but you can mix it up with a gloss to give a different finish.  I also have it in Coral You Later...

Again its very bright and pigmented so not for everyone but I love it!

The Lip Stix don't get released until Brochure 6 and will be £1.99.

Benefit Sugarbomb

If you've seen my best of 2012 post then you will know that this has been my favourite blusher for quite some time.  I'm wearing it in the picture and I love it because you can either put a very light dusting on for a natural look or build it up for a more striking look.  I tend to use a bigger brush then it came with and use the lid to swirl the 4 colours around before applying.  I'm very pale so its a must for any make- up look.

Soap and Glory Tricks of the Shade Eyeshadow Palette

Again I am wearing this in the above photo (I used Mudhoney and Aubersheen) and I love love love it.  I picked it up in December last year (it was part of their Xmas gift range) and it took me ages to get hold of it as it was so popular but the persistence was worth it.  I had never brought such a large palette before so I was really pleased that it had a real range of colours and I use it most days.

False Lashes

I get a lot of inspiration from YouTube make- up tutorials (Tanya Burr is one of my favourites) and I am always amazed at how false lashes transform a look.  I don't have much opportunity to wear false lashes but whenever I do I always get a ridiculous amount of compliments.  I always keep at least one pair in my make- up bag and I'm currently not fussy about which ones I used (the above picture is just the last pair I have left).

So that is all my favourite products from January this year.

Like I said please check out my Facebook page (the link is on the left or just type in facebook.com/glitterandlipstick) and if you like my page then any posts will appear in you feed as I post them.  Please leave a comment as I'd love to know what your favourites are.

Thanks again for reading.

Mummy Monday: Magic For Your Mum

Hello everyone

Lets be real here- Mums are amazing!!  They spend 9 months carrying you around then the next 18 years raising you.

My Mum in particular is awesome.  She always knows how to look after me when I'm poorly, she is an amazing cook, gives the best hugs and she still puts up with me living at home with her and Dad (and I'm 27).  Mums should be rewarded for their awesomeness so I've put together this little gift guide of pressies that all Mums would love.

Avon Naturals Body Conditioning Strawberry & Guava Body Lotion

This subtle smelling body lotion is formulated with pure strawberry and guava extracts to condition and moisturise the skin- what Mum wouldn't want conditioned, moisturised skin as a present?

£1.50 in Brochure 5.  If you wanted to make up a gift set of this fragrance then you can also get the Shower Gel for £1.30 and a Room and Linen Spray for £1.50.  These are sweet scents at bargain prices!

Avon Perceive Eau De Parfum

An uplifting and confident scent that your Mum will keep wanting as a gift.  It has essences of gardenia, vanilla and sandalwood.  A classic fragrance that Mums will love.

£8 in Brochure 6 or buy with the matching scent Roll- On Anti Perspirant  and Perfumed Body Spray (perfect for handbags), just £10 for all 3.

Avon Skin So Soft Skindisiac Body Oil Spray

Another item that once she's tried she'll want it again and again!  This body oil will give her ultimate softness and it has a seductive scent.  The Skindisiac range is enriched with passionfruit oil to restore skin's radiance for a healthy glow.

£2.50 in Brochure 5.  The partnering Body Lotion is £2.  Pair them up for a doubley soft gift.

Avon Solutions Hydra Beyond Hydrating Gel Cream

Regular readers of my blog will know I LOVE this gel cream and I'll bet your Mum will love it as much as I do.  If she has extra dry skin this will help her lock in essential moisture.  The Hydra Beyond range is enriched with sea oak which feels like a drink of water for your skin, providing 48 hour hydration as well as replenishing and reinvigorating skin!

This is £3 in Brochure 5 and the matching Extra Hydrating Cream is also just £3.

Thanks for reading today's post my lovelies.  Don't forget to treat your Mum- she deserves it!

Avon Ideal Flawless Skin Loving Beauty Balm

Hello everyone

Now I know that Avon are very late to do this but in Brochure 6 they are releasing a BB cream!

If you've not tried a BB cream yet then this is the ideal opportunity.

It comes in 6 skin true shades- I've picked it up in Ivory and Shell but the other shades are Nude, Natural Beige, Medium Beige and Nutmeg.  There really is a shade to suit all skin tones.  This BB cream boasts 10 benefits too- vitamin E infused, mineral infused, hydrates skin, evens skintone, conceals flaws, minimises redness, lightweight feel, smoothes skin, SPF15 protection and skin looks better- even after removing Beauty Balm!

So how much are Avon charging for this 10 benefit BB cream?  £6.99!!  Bargain!!  I did a little research in to the price of other BB creams and found it ranged between £7.99 (Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream)  to a whopping £32 (Estee Lauder Daywear Anti- Oxidant Beauty Benefit Creme).  With the cheapest price out there its less than you would usually spend- a low cost, low risk introduction to Avon and BB creams.

What could be better than a multi- benefit make- up that feels lighter than foundation?!

Contact your local Avon rep to pre- order yours now or if you live in the Bournemouth area you can pre- order with me.

Thanks for reading guys- check back in soon for more reviews, OOTDS and beauty pics!

How I'm Wearing The Trends: Ripped Boyfriend Jeans Part 1

Hello everyone

Following on from yesterdays post I wanted to show you how I'm styling up these ripped boyfriend jeans.  I love them so much that I am going to do another look with these jeans (hopefully tomorrow).

These jeans are like the anti- skinnies and I think its the change of shape that I love so much.  Don't get me wrong- I still heart my skinny jeans but its nice to mix it up.  I popped these smoking slipppers from Matalan with them and I know I am wearing this heritage jacket to death but I don't care- its my current favourite!

I kept the rest of the look fairly casual with a zebra print slouchy bag from Matalan and this tiger print t-shirt from Egypt.

I am also now on Facebook and Twitter!!  The links are on the right hand side of my blog so please go on to Facebook and like my page or Tweet me!

Speak to you soon my lovelies.  Thanks for reading!

How I'm Wearing The Trends: The 70's Blue Jean

Hello everyone

Jeans are always in fashion- the type of jean just changes season to season.  This season the 70's blue jean is back.  Here's how I styled it up.

I love the 70's look but I didn't want it to look too fancy dress so I added my own twist on it.  The jeans are from Oasis but I got them at a swap party and kept the 70's vibe going with these stacked heels (from River Island but were a present).  To smarten the look up I went for a good old heritage jacket from H&M (brought in a charity shop).

The t-shirt is American Eagle (but brought off £1 rail in a charity shop) and the bag is from a leather market in Mexico (another gift).

A couple of little touches to my outfit that you couldn't see were this turquoise Ice watch bought in Egypt and this statement sunnies that I brought in Mexico.  I love topping an outfit off with these sunglasses as they are quite quirky and because I got them in Mexico I know no one else has them.  Just wish it was sunnier more often...

Thanks for reading today's post.  See you soon!

5 Of My Favourite Clutches

Hello everyone

Today I want to show you my 5 favourite clutch bags.  I know that 3 of them are technically not clutch bags but they are the same size and I would use them in the same type of situations as a clutch bag so I thought you wouldn't mind.... ;)

Brought in a second hand shop in Winton years ago.  Its too delicate to use now but I like to take it out and look at it every now and again.
Vintage Brown Leather Envelope Clutch

Floral Clutch Bag from Topshop.  By far the most expensive but it was a worthwhile investment.

Avon Faye Cross Body Bag £6 in Brochure 6.  My newest acquisition.

Fan Bag from Primark (but always mistaken for Topshop

So there you have it- my 5 favourites.

Thanks for reading.  See you soon.

Jen xoxo
